Black Snake Moan

Samuel L. Jackson is always at his best when he acts bat shit insane and can go all crazy eyed on ya. I had always heard bad things about this movie and had always kinda avoided seeing it as a result, despite the fact that it seemed right up my alley. Samuel L. Jackson being crazy? check! Lots of nudity? check! The Black Keys and blues? check! Justin Timberlake for some reason? Ultimately I ended up really enjoying it and was pretty upset I hadn't seen it before.

So the movie has two main characters, Ray (played by Christina Ricci) and Lazarus (played by Samuel L. Jackson) Ray is dating Justin Timberlake who's character's name is Ronnie. Ronnie is about to go off to war but suffers from severe anxiety, Ray needs to have sex constantly because she was sexually abused as a child. Ronnie leaves and Ray fucks everything thing that moves. Unfortunately, for Ronnie's brother, Rene from True Blood, he can only move to beat women and it's hard to have sex with a woman you're currently beating within an inch of her life. So Rene from true blood beats the absolute shit outta her and leaves her for dead in front of Lazarus's home. Lazarus goes around town asking about her finds out about her problem with the whole nymphomania, and decides that god sent her to him to cure her of her sickness. It's a story of temptation, redemption, and insert something that ends with tion......coordination.

The sound track is AWESOME! in earlier reviews I've ripped directors for using bands rather than score, but this is a piece built around the music, most of the songs are R.L. Burnside's who's a blues musician from back in the day, and it's complemented nicely with current day blues bands like the black keys. Also Samuel L. Jackson learned to play the guitar and he's a bad ass mother fucker on guitar. It's pretty awesome. I've included the title track as well as Samuel L. Jackson's cover of Stack-O-Lee by R.L Burnside.

I FINALLY FIGURED THIS PART OUT
WHY DIDN'T SOMEONE TELL ME I HAD TO TYPE SOMETHING IN THESE BOXES!!!!! GO TO THESE LINKS FOR SONGS!!!!!

Justin Timberlake wasn't bad in this, I can't say he's actually been BAD in other things, most of his acting credits I haven't seen but I generally thought he handled what wasn't a terribly easy roll fairly well and to this I say KUDOS MR TIMBERLAKE!

If you're a Samuel L. Jackson fan, or just a fan of the blues I'd check this out. Don't expect something incredible, but I had a good time with it and would recommend it to anyone just looking for a feel good movie with a GREAT soundtrack, check it out it's a lot of fun.
